My bad I missed ADSF6's post above. I meant what the cars sold for.

I was there today, a fair few bunch of people turned up.
Didn't seem that they were saving all that much (was funny when a dealer told a guy who bought a VE SSV ute that he payed to much).
Also people buying cars for the same price you could get at a dealer if you haggle with the saleman.

27k for a VZ wagon?

Someone on eBay recently could not sell his VE SS for 26k.

Apparently there were 2000 people at the auction.

Most people would have paid far too much, so it's not really worth going. There's another lot from another dealer on for next week from what I heard on 3aw.

Think I am talking rubbish, drive past Fowles on the freeway and have a look more crummydores there then there are on the road.
There is no way Holden would be selling the volumes they have been without shifty business.
Hmmmm.......sounds like Walkinshaw bought out Holden to then, re Shifty Business..........

All 60 cars sold today with 70% going to the public and 30% back to trade. Apparently some fair bargains but none were give aways ..... approx 10-20% savings depending on model. 2000 people attended.

The BIG news is ....... another few truck loads of cars have arrived from the second dealer gone bust ready for the next round of sales with a simular number to go. Once cleared by the administrator, will be going also no reserve. The cars will only get cheaper. This will not be the last of them either with a few more nearing the end ...... very sad for the whole industry, Ford, Holden and every other dealer out there.

the only cheap cars were probarly the 60th aniversary SS Sedans, those things retail close to 56 kay with the factory fitted 20 inch wheels, sunroof etc...

The SS utes werent that cheap, you can buy brand new SS utes off the lot for 33 kay, would be easier then going to auction, having to pay tomorrow and not having rego etc.

I think the reason this auction came about is because GMAC and one other vehicle financier have pulled out of the Australian market (as at the end of Decmeber). Dealers who were financed by GMAC and with floor stock must therefore liquidate their stock holdings immediately. Yes it's a sign of the times, but more a sign that credit is difficult to obtain.... as opposed to a public not wanting to buy Holdens (but hey, that would be understandable, right?).

mate you are 100% right holden registers cars and stores them in a port melbourne( qek a part of fowles ) fowles has the contrac from holden to register cars for fleet and employees and thats why holden have sold 5000 cars months and then the cars are sent to fowles for sale with very low kays

There are also hundreds of new Holdens stored in Burwood and Cheltenham. Has been that way for a while.

The dealers would probably make more money selling at auctions then at a dealership considering how much average joes pay at Fowles and Pickles.

Some of those prices are a joke. If people thought they got a bargain they are sadly mistaken. Any of those cars could have been bought for the same price if not cheaper brand new from a dealership.

Ford are selling FG utes (unsold dealer stock) for 16k, Territory TX's for 23k, FG XR6's for 26k.

Fowles has absolutely nothing to do with it. The cars sitting in the paddock actually belong to Prix Car, which adjoins Fowles. Prix Car processes and stores cars on behalf of manufacturers.
