Default What's an AU tub worth?

Just wondering if anybody knows what the going price for an AU ute tub is worth? If anyone's got one they'd like to sell, I'd be interested (maybe).

Havent done anything, Im just considering a few options in regards to fitting a bodykit etc. To fix the paint around where the tonneau lugs were I'm going to have to paint the entire tub again, so I thought I might get one to work on, weld the lugs up, paint it and then do a swap for the one I have now.

Your best bet is to dig around at the wreckers or a tray building workshop. Cannot buy them from Ford parts, so I am led to believe.

Hmm, tough one really. I havent got any quotes yet but I reckon to paint the tub and the hardlid (when I eventually get one) it'll be around $1k. And since they'd have paint ready to go, it'd be a good time to fit a bodykit, ahhhhhhh crap............

Don't know if it's possible but what about a tub from a FG ute? no holes to weld up, will look different (possibly too different).

I can see why you would go a new tub. Less time off the road and more of a chance to do it right first time. It won't really cost you anymore either as at the end of the day you can sell your old tub and recover the initial outlay.

That's the idea. A lot of what I want to do is welding too so it would be easier to have it off the road.

Probably a bit too different I think and I'd imagine they would be pricey since theyre brand new.

Why not just drive it around cab chassis style while you are fixing the tub up? You could tell people that its in fully sick lightweight dragstrip trim.

no towbar and no need for a trailer!

At this stage Im going to keep the tub Ive got and just get it repainted, whack a lid on it and leave the standard kit. So far the 250 kit is about $1200 supplied and I would rather spend that on more engine mods.

Last time i bought one it was around the $500 mark ... and had blemishes and scratches on it.

Wreckers want upwards of $1K (as smash repairers pay top $$$$ for them).
