Default Brake upgrade?

Need some advice please guys. I am going to upgrade my brakes on the s1 to the premium brake set up. What more do I need to buy? I believe all I need is the uprights and the swaybar and mounts. Is this correct. The s1 has abs if that makes a difference. I am guessing that I use my existing hubs. Any advice will be greatly appreciated in fixing Fords lousey brake design.

Make sure the SII premos have the gold coloured brackets that they bolt on to. If they don't you aren't going to be happy.

Depends on what you mean by premium set up, ie if donor car is s1 or s2. I put premium brakes on my S1 Fairmont, but they're off a T1 therefore swaybar etc was all the same, I just swapped the uprights and the new calipers / rotors bolted straight on (no need for the bracket which s2 requires). If you haven't got the T1 uprights you'll need to basically do the whole s2 conversion, with uprights, lower control arms and swaybar, as well as getting the premo rotors and caliper (with, as russell mentioned, the mounting bracket needed for S2's). Hope that helps. I've got a premo brake set up pdf somewhere which is quite good if you want me to email that through or anything. Well worth the upgrade though, they're awesome!

Since late AU2 and AU3 mounted the calipers in the premo set up at the leading edge of the disc, rather than at the trailing edge like in S1, a bracket was needed to mount the caliper to the otherwise standard au2/3 upright to get the spacing right for the bigger caliper. S1 didn't need this, since there was a special upright specially for the premo brake set up.

In which case just do a search on the AU1 to AU2 upgrade, since you'll basically do that upgrade, then use the premium calipers and rotors mounted on the standard AU2/3 front set-up (uprights, swaybar, lower control arms). I got your PM and will email you as soon as I get the file off my external HD. Cheers.

Thanks mate. At the end of the day if I wasn't as long as I could've gotten the measurements I'm sure I could've made one. At the end of the day it all just nuts and bolts. Just makes life easier if I have all that I need on hand.

I wouldn't try to get them made, Shaynet lent my brackets to a mate of his before I picked them up to get a price on making some. They wanted $800 for the pair lol.

You won't know yourself with the premo brake package, I noticed a huge difference when I put mine on and I was only stepping up from the SII brakes.

No more brake fade :, you wont know yourself with the premos. As Russ did i went from SII brakes (AU2XR6) to my TE and noticed a world of difference. Only bit of fade i had was on the last AU cruise but they copped a hiding.
