yes, a good minute or two on cold starts...it's just common sense really.

I just drive sedately until the temperature comes up . Modern cars these days with fuel injection do not really need to be warmed up in the driveway.
As the others have said , do not race the engine until the temps are up.

I like to let my xy idle for about 10-15secs before driving gently under 2500rpm for about 5mins until the engine and trans have warmed up, then into her!!!

I don't let my car warm up of a morning as I'm always running late. I don't flog it though. I now have a small ,what I think is, a slight tappet noise, which disappears after it's warmed up. We'll see what a good oil change does it.

B.S.
Warming up gets the piston to bore relationship right or closer to spec.
I know tolerances are tighter these days but without a good warmup they get looser quicker.

With the EL it usually stutters for the first 5 seconds on start up, but once that is out of it's system I drive pretty much straight away but take it easy for the first 15 mins.

The BA I usually drive straight away and never bring it on boost for at least 10 minutes.

Sometimes I'll let the car idle just sitting there while I grab something from the shed or put stuff in the boot. But normally I'll just start up and take off really really slow. I can hear everything creaking when its a cold morning so I never put the foot down for a good 10 minutes.
I only ever do this for the first start of the day. If I've already started the car that day I'll take off a little quicker but wont put the foot to the floor till she's nice n warm.

Default Third Option in Poll

: I think what would have been a good addition to this poll , would have been if the third question was

3) Who would like to think they have warmed the engine up, but more often
than not just take off regardless at speed .

I'll tick that box , If I remember right I'm sure minge has a story re that as well

20 seconds max stationary then drive gently (max half throttle/half revs)until the water is up to normal, but don't thrash it till I've been driving for 15 mins so the oil is getting there (mine does have a water/oil heat exchanger though, so I may be a little conservative with the 15 mins)

i'll drive it granny style and let it warm up properly before thrashing it or anything. i find it warms up quicker driving than just sitting and waiting...

Warms up quicker but does more damage.

I let mine idle for bout 2 mins, then drive at ~40kmh down my road (1km), its gravel so the slow speed also keeps the car clean. Another 5kms of granny style and shes ready to go!

take it easy through the revs, if lots of traffic it's not easy to do, but as long as you're not snapping gears as hard as you can it is fine

I always do when it's the first kick of the day let the oil build up, Then after 3-4min drive off slow let the trans build up when the gauge is up to running temp off i go normal..
My brother also does this with his BA we have been big believers of not thrashing or running cold engines straight away or going over 2500rpm..
Now i got a Berlina i can see my engine temp on the trip and i know when it's almost full running temp.
