Default Wish list from Ford Australia

Well here is a link to something I saw at the Melbourne Motor Show.

It grabbed my attention for a number of reasons. I know the price makes it impossible for Ford to build something to the same very high standard, but its the CONCEPT that I think is a winner, and about the only thing missing from the Ford line up at the moment. Added to that Ford already has a base product that could be modified.

http://www.lexus.com/models/sc/galle...or_photos.html

Take a very close look at this car, its damn clever. The 2 peice metal roof that retracts with the boot lid is amazing. The 4.3 V8 is only 300HP, but in the ball park.

I think Ford could do much worse than think about a top down 4 seater cruiser. Its CLK ish but the metal retractable roof is SLKish, but much much larger.

As I said, it will never be built to the luxury standards of the Lexus due to the sales volume vs target market in Australia, but something of a compromise I think would find a place with many people.

Just my 2 cents worth

I think Ford did a car with a folding steel roof in the '50s. Fairlane / Galaxie Sunliner i think it was called. They also toyed with the idea here in Australia with an XL Falcon they called the Retractable Hardtop (tm).

They did, Ford Fairlane (Rock'n'Roll Detective) had one, and I can remember reading something about it in a book somewhere, too.
