I've done a search for this but couldn't find anything.
If I was to upgrade my mags, say from the standard 15" 205/65/R15 to 16" 215/60/R16 then how much would my speedo over read by and can it be fixed? (like changing the speedo spring, or getting the ECu edited?) Also if I went up to 16" mags, but used 205/55/R16 tyres, so that the radius is the same as the default tyres would the speedo give the same reading as it used to on the old tyres? if so this may be my best option. |

So long as you don't change the rolling diameter (wheel/tyre combo diameter) you should be fine. You go up in rim size, you compensate with lower profile tyres.

Thank you, thought that would be the case, I just want to make it look like there is a bit more filling the cavernous wheel arches of my AUI than this little 15" inner with tyres that look to large for the inner size

I changed to 235/45/17's and the overall rolling diameter is like 5mm or something. I think it adds up Im doing 3k's less then the speedo says.

ah just used that, and acctually the 205/65/R15 tyre replaced by teh 205/55/R16 would acctually give you a reading of 100km/h when you're going 97.6km/h
The reason I ask is I've just seen these rims http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=79689146 and was thinking of bidding on them, the only problem is the guy lives 6-7 hours from me...think of that freight. |

^^think of that freight? my guess is going by that website you are in nz? well put it this way most of the aussies that are on here are from different ends of the country, and that takes about 2 or 3 days at least lol, not 6 or 7 hours

he's got a point, i paid $360 freight to get 4 rims from Victoria to WA... whats that, about 2500Km+??

Gah! I've just seen the the seller will only hand them over to a buyer who turns up in person, and I don't have any mates in Palmerston North who can get them and then send them up.
Oh well, I'll just have a look around the local scrapies, only chances are they wont have much in the way of AU's BA's or BF's (They are still at the age where people recon it's worth it to repair them rather than scrap them) [EDIT] Yea I'm in NZ, land of the long blue oval (I wish) |

Or you could just find the right sppedo gear from Ford to suit the rim size, that's what I did to correct mine to the 18's.
