Have been having problems starting I6 VCT while the engine is still warm and has been left for a short period of time
It takes about 10 to 15 seconds of cranking before starting Otherwise it starts immediately when cold and runs & idles smooth as can be I have reported it to ford during service as it has been doing it for about 40000ks or more but no faults were found Has any body else had the same issue and solved it? There was a thread about this a while ago in this forum area I think. It was a common problem, although 10 - 15 seconds sounds a bit much. The way around it is to use a bit of throttle when cranking and it should start instantly. If it doesn't help, must not be the common AU problem spoken of.
Not sure what causes it but I get it from time to time on my VCT, usually can last only a few seconds though.

I have also found that if I use some throttle it starts
In future I will do it sooner I am wondering if this issue is isolated to the AU VCT engine? Thanks Autocade |

I get this aswell. I have been told (i cant remember who by) that the fuel in the fuel rail gets too hot from heatsoak and vapourises or something and you have to give it a rev to get the good fuel flowing.
Dunno if that is the case, but it is plausable. It only happens to me on hot days after the engine has been running for more than about 15 minutes.

That sounds fimilar. I knew it was something to do with vapour and the fuel system but wasn't sure if I should say anything. I get it about once every two weeks maybe.

check if ur BAC valve is clogged up with junk (carbon and/or oil) that can contribute to starting problems and idleing.
also check ur sprak plugs (heat range and condition)
