When the Kia Stinger was still being developed I was very interested how it would turn out, and have been following with interest the evolution of this model. Today I spotted one in the wild and I have to say im still impressed it looked as good as I expected.

I can't stand the Datsun 240k styled rear doors on these things, or the Optima. And the tail lights look like someone forgot to trim off the sprue when they were moulded...
But apart from that they look pretty nice. |

But totally agree on the rear door, saw that and yuk! What were they thinking?

My eyes seem to focus directly on the large chunk of metal in the C pillar area.

Starting to see a few around Perth. Spoke to a journo taking some pics for a write up. He had nothing but praise for it.
Interested to see if a tuning culture starts up or if any turn up to the tuning and track days.

It's got the looks, the goods and hard to go past that 7 year warranty
If I was not looking at a Mustang as my next car, and wanted a four door, this would have to be on my list. |

Looks pretty good to me. I also followed the development with interest.
It will be interesting to see what the South Korean car manufacturers do in the next decade. I reckon we will see more performance cars from them. |

That blue is a cracking colour, the only fly in the ointment is that red tail light extension into the rear quarter, the designer needed to lift their pencil.

Yeah... If it was mine, the rear badge would be replaced with an oval "Turbo" badge. The front with an oval "GT" one. But if they could be easily removed leaving no marks... Then remove them both, and leave people guessing. |

If I ever drive one, I'd replace the kia oval badges with ford ones, remove the stinker badges and just have red or black turbo badges from an Fg-x on them. This is what Ford did back in 1999 with the Festiva anyway so I guess it is forgivable

First mod, ditch the wheels and the KIA badges. And the chrome up front.

Already had the opportunity to take one for a drive a few weeks ago. Got it over 200km/h. It’s fast, fun, and it handles so well. If you’re coming from a Falcadore, you will be pleasantly surprised about the driving dynamics, but you will be disappointed with the rear legroom. Then you will say “I don’t sit back there anyway,” and you will just love it.

Looks wise I think they look a bit tacky. Like the BRZ/86 looked flashy at first then 3months later I couldn’t stand it. I think it cheapens the development of this car. For example, I love the focus RS styling which is bold and simple. Interested to see what happened with the stinger in 5yrs time though, imagine what monsters tuner shops will be developing with testing and an abundance of aftermarket parts

I liked em to begin with, saw a red 1 the other day, missus liked it, I thought it was ok, it seems the more I see them the less I like, performance is a no brainer but that price tag? Wtf!? It’s a Kia

thanks for the heads up on the johnny tig development
12.3@114mph with a lazy 1.9 60ft from a Kia Who would have thought? The results are befitting the effort Kia (and Johnny Tig) have put into the car. |

Good on them, it hurts me to say it but what can you do. Its just sour grapes for those who get all narky about it.
I like the styling, but for a sporty car id take less chrome, especially below the A pillar. For a school on sedan styling that classy and not OTT then look no further than Alfa, 156, 159 and now the new Guilia is how its done. For a daily id but a low spec Alfa because a high spec KIA but I am just a snob.

Sit in one and you’ll get it. What the engineers at Kia have done with this car boggles the mind. Lexus and Mercedes Benz quality. |

I see two regularly here in Geelong a white and a red one. I was lucky enough to be behind the red one when it took a golf r on at the lights, it just beat the golf r. They look really good in person but I couldn't believe how big they are. I thought they were a lot smaller.

I’m not passing an opinion based on their first pos cars, I’m a big fan of the new direction they’ve taken, I especially like that they’ve taken 1 particular shape grille and stuck with it across all the newer models, a signature like bmw do with their grilles or skyline taillights or mustang taillights, I even tried to convince both my missus and mother in law to convert to Kia when they updated cars a few years back, when I say ‘it’s a kia’ I mean ‘$60k for a kia’ is asking quite a lot, it’s an enormous jump from the humbly priced cars they cut their teeth on

If the Stinger goes harder, probably handles better, and uses less fuel to do it,why would you waste money on a Mustang. We can presume that the Kia will be better built than the Ford, and comes with a better warranty
