Good work AG3 - early bird catches the worm ;)
GoAuto had a piece on this yesterday (http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...57A7100017A9A), but wikicars.biz seems to have a bit more info: http://wikicars.biz/news.php#!conten...article&pno=84 I'm guessing motor report and caradvice will have more soon. |

Front- and all-wheel-drive configurations will be offered in the US and Europe, along with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions
Can I please order a hi-pi Ecoboost 2lt with 6 spd AWD manual....unlikely. Looks like my XR5 might be around a while yet. |

Normally Ford releases the wagon much later than the hatch with the hatch date being pushed back & back. This is what its up against and its on time for early 2013 release and may be on displayed at the Sydney IMS!!

Our MA is 5 years old now and we want to buy a new car. The problem is the MA Mondeo has been such a good car and still today compared to a lot of cars we have looked at it outshines them in features and build quality.
Wish Ford would bring this new Mondeo out sooner than mid 2014 :( |

Something on the test drive of the fusion which should be the same shape-wise
as our future Mondeo. The engine line up could be slightly different though. http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/24/2...-review-video/ |

I agree with you guys. My MA has had 2 faults in 3 1/2 years of ownership. It's a fantastic car, i love it, and I am about the to to 41,000k on the clock, it feels as good as did when I first bought it new. It's low k's. But I do love the look of the new model. Decision will be a hard one.

Seems odd to me to be showing a car now that will not be coming out for almost 2 years. I've heard of drip-feeding, but surely you're not supposed to be showing the entire car...
Is this some sort of new marketing strategy from Ford? |

Friend of mine was at the show today and was told by Ford people that the Mondeo MAY not be here before 2014!! YET Mazda is releasing the new Mazda6 in December [ ahead of time ] and he said its a stunning looking car [ 2.2l 129Kw diesel 420Nm ] in competition directly with the Mondeo I will be going to ask Ford myself

I've seen a number of videos on U Tube this week showing the new vehicle in the US with some of them doing test drives.
Although the new model looks the goods one thing I hope they don't do with our version (although I don't see how they will be able to change it if it's a universal build) is the new manual gear shift is now a sporty (NOT!!) button on the side of the gear selector. How stupid! One of the things I really enjoy about my Mondy is using the gear shift lever to manually change gears, which I do regularly, particularly on a couple of windy hilly roads nearby. Paddles would have been acceptable but a lame button? You've got to be kidding!! This would be a real put off for me to upgrade to the new model. |

It will be interesting to see how the market reacts to the new Mazda 6. Will there be a bump in sales or will they stay the same in the basically stagnant medium class? It will certainly be taking a step forward in the safety systems side of things with Active cruise, forward obstruction warning, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, high beam control, adaptive front lighting, smart brake support, smart city brake and acceleration control (auto only - when ther eis an obstacle in front of car). Some of this stuff is only catching up to Mondeo though. It also comes with i-eloop (stupid name) brake energy regeneration.

When I got my MA it was a no brainer NOW i have an alternative and a good one at that. I will let the dust settle down and give Ford some leeway,Mazda to iron out bugs then choose next Easter,it will be one or the other. apstar |

Went to the show today saw the Mazda 6 with open doors on display, went to the Ford stand there was the Mondeo with doors closed and window tinting to prevent people seeing inside. What a frigin joke asked a part time sales person why it was this way and said "We were told to block any view because we may not get the Fusion interior on this model and yes the release date is still early 2014" pointless me going on as other people there were having a go at the poor girl about Fords lack of interest, BUT they were happy to talk about the concept car
