Today I pulled a 15 year old battle worn Victa Corvette with a Briggs and Stratton Sprint 375 (nice Ford reference there) lawn mower out of the shed today. Hasn’t been started for over a year due to its age. Fuel tank empty save for some funky looking junk on the bottom. Gave it a splash of fresh fuel, pushed the primer 3 times and gave the cord a yank. Lo and behold the thing fired first go. Nice little cloud of blue smoke as she warmed up then run like a gooden.
This mower is surplus to my needs now but I can’t bring myself to get rid of it. All the abuse I have subjected the poor thing to over the years, and the amount of money it earned me mowing lawns after school, it still starts first go every time. It’s amazing how humans get attached to machines, as if they were a living being.

On Friday. I got a call from a building manager to go sort out the contractor one of his tenant's use who had been trying to get to the bottom of a problem for a couple of hours. Turns out it was one of the tafe teachers I had in 2007. A top bloke and after I sorted his problem in 20 or so minutes we caught up for a bit then went on about our business. It feels good being the (ex) student who just schooled the teacher.

I made up a bee's wax solution.. Then got up on roof of motorhome over 2.6m high.. then applied the wax over roof to assist big time in water repellent.. Its a rubber over ply.. Fitting between vents, sat TV dish,TV arial , solar panels, CB etc.. The wax made roof VERY slippery .. Lucky my occupation was line worker. Where heights is not an issue.. 63 year old.. Have to keep preventative maintenance up on these expensive things..

Turning the key in my 64 year old never rebuilt tractor and it firing right up after six months idle. Then it goes on to put in a full days work without missing a beat. Got to love british engineering.

Yesterday discovered a small shopping complex (old school) near me that has a pizza, fish n Chip and chicken/chips shop next to each other. Gonna give my arteries a real good work-out over the next few weeks.

The "Why is it...." gripe thread has had a bit of a run lately. Well for a little balance I thought it wouldn't hurt to revive some feel good.
After a week of working outside in 40+ heat and no sleep last night, two latte's, a drive in the Mustang and pumping some new music made me feel good this morning. Its the little things..............

Can I do yesterday??
After about 18 months of not being overly happy with where the Pedders Sports Ryders had my ute sitting, I finally got around to taking a further 25mm out of the rear, while at Total Tools picking up a steel cut off wheel for my grinder to remover the excess off the new u-bolts for the blocks •I caught a glimpse of it in the mirrored front windows of the shop • the rubber clears the guards by about 7mm so I don’t need to roll them Last edited by Lunch; 27-01-2018 at 11:09 PM. |

Been waiting for a replacement condenser fan for the AC at home.....
Decided to open up the old one, and lube up the bearings, and press it back together. Working like a champ. Then it hit the mid 40's and she went into high temp limp mode. Pulled the dash out of the F250 (wasted a heap of time figuring out the speedo cable removal), and removed the headlight switch (installed upside down - button on the bottom) as I wasn't getting any dash lights. Cleaned out a heap of crud, dressed the contacts. Light spray with inox, then a blow with compressed air. Chucked it all back together....... good as new. |

I got a hint earlier today that a lady may be interested in me. We have an opportunity to meet this upcoming Friday as part of a larger group so there won't be the usual pressure of the 1 on 1 date.

Buying "new toys" or accessories for my car always makes me happy.
Yesterday, I bought a new Michelin foot pump with intergrated large digital LCD gauge for topping up tyre pressures at home when they are stone cold. Also bought a top of the line Gerni for $600 with a steel braided 10 metre hose that never "kinks" or breaks like my previous washers for the car that annoyed me to no end. |

This was fun.
I doubt my parents will be happy when they get home and see what I did to the driveway though. |

At least you lined it up perfectly in the middle ... adds more detail to the concrete.
Petrol will clean it up though.

I had to do better than the poxy ones dad did with his ute to the right hand side of the drive-way sometime last year... he got a blasting from the old bird and as you can see, he barely even left a mark
