Default Oils aint oils

Anyone going into Supercheap etc might be puzzled by the array of oils. There's even an oil now which is labelled 'for Ford Mondeo'.
So what's the story?

Some may have noticed that some oils are 'suitable for DPFs'
but the ones approved by Ford carry no such statement. This is odd
on the face of it.

Oils approved by Ford (ie A5/B5 are 'fuel efficient oils' according to ACEA.
See http://www.oilspecifications.org/acea.php

I'd say use oil meeting Ford specifications. Simple.
I still don't get though.
