Default CD player security code.

hi guys,

Just a small question to throw at ya's
'04 LR focus now i had to disconnect the battery, and as you may know you need to put the 4 digit code into it to get it working again, now i looked for a littled card with the code on it in the glove box as some have a card, then checked back of owners/operation manual and it has the ....... spot for the code but no code, so anywho i rang my ford dealer and had to give them the VIN and rego number and car details and usually they'll fax or ring up head office and get it off the system, but then they ring me back and say that the CD player needs to be removed to get a so called "serial number" off the back now im just wondering from some the more technicals guys out there, is there really the need for all this hassle dismantling all the CD player or would they be able to source it any other way?

all comments will be greatly appreciated
cheers j
