Default Bought a car

Finally got my insurance payout after my XR8 was stolen and have just purchased another car. Its a Cobalt Blue ED Fairmont Ghia 5 litre, factory bodykit and optional wheels, sunroof, full leather interior, Momo leather steering wheel, Alpine premium sound and tinted windows. 201,000kms and in imaculate condition with RWC. Payed $8000. Is that a reasonable price to pay, i'm thinking that maybe that was a little high but not far from a reasonable price.

Sounds like a neat car, get some pics up. If its immaculate then the extra cost would be worth it IMO.

If the car is in good condition and you were pleased with it then any price under 10 grand is probarly reasonable.

Im suprised you didnt go for a new car through the Ford employee discount program, im told that the cars really dont cost you anything for the 6 months you own them?

I have in the past and been burned on resale. I'm planning on getting a new GT later in the year though and hope to keep it until oil supplies run dry.

According to the insurance investigator Smartlock is absolutely useless. He reckoned that car thieves had the system sussed before the EL was even released as it was still the same as it was when released on EB II. It may stop opportunistic thieves but not anyone with a vague knowledge of what they are doing.

Nothing is safe is it....

The ED Ghia is a nice choice

Sorry to go off topic just a touch but I've always been curious about something. What happens if your car gets stolen - you get paid out - then the car gets found after your payout but you've already purchased another car?

I'd imagine the insurance company would probably sell it at auction to recover some of the payout money.

Insurance companies take a while to pay out on stolen cars as a lot of investigations go into why the cars was stolen & etc. Once your paid out it becames their car unless you want to bid for it or whats left of it if its ever found.

Sounds real nice....real rare too.

You will be enjoying it long after you've forgotten the price.

Sounds like a fair deal to me for a rare car with all the fruit you could possibly want.

Now that interior looks better then mine, mines only one 154,000, and parts of it were looking dull (until baby oil came to the rescue).
That interior looks soooooo clean and in tact.
Looks like a wicked purchase.

It looks better in the photos than real life. The interior is quite clean but the front seats are a little bit grubby, with a bit of a brown tinge in them. Apart from that its all good, it was previously owned by Ford as a lease vehicle and has always been well looked after.
