Hi guys
Im a new member to the forum and enjoying reading some of the threads you have posted. I have a EL XR6 which have breaks that shudder (warped disks) that are not even worthy of a commodore! However I have picked up a set if AUII Twin Piston breaks includeing slotted disks. Yes I want to fit the AUII breaks to my EL. Question is has anyone done this before and is there anything i should know? Cheers |

My Mechanic is sick today so im sure he will make em fit
I know AU - BA wheels dont fit on a EL but do EL wheels fit on a AU - BA? I think its a clearance thing that stoped it going from BA - EL so maybe it will work in my favour and the EL fitting AU/BA Fingers Crossed : *feeling sick now* |

apart from them not fitting
E-Series falcon's are very restricted when it comes to brake upgrdades. the spindle doesn't allow fitment of larger calipers/rotors. there are various ppl making kits to fit larger rotors/calipers to our cars, but they're still being worked on.

Ill look out for the kits
My mechanic thinks (and he is still thinking) that we need a few bits from the AUII such as the hub and a few other bits, and he reckons it would take half a day to fit. Ill keep everyone posted on the progress, as it would be a very cheap and worthy upgrade on the E series |

Wouldn't putting on an AU hub change the wheel offset??

putting AU onwards wheels on an eseries will have the wheels sitting too far out.
they'll most likely be sitting outside the guards if they're big rims. i also don't think they'll go on easily. but i'd like to be proven otherwise

If you want AU hubs you need the entire front end set up, crossmember included. And you will get AU offest on the front. Crossmember is pretty much bolt up, just need to add two studs I think.

THe STUB wont fit as the ball joints in a AU mount in the Arms, the ball joints in a EA-EL mount in the STUB, so if u try to fit the AU stub into youre car you will find u have no ball joints to hold it in with.

Ok EFFalcon I put it to the test
I just went to my mates place who has a AU. As i suspected, AU-BA wont fit on a EA-EL However AU-EL WILL fit on AU-BA Yes the Mags were sitting out further on the AU But still in line with guard (no good for lowerd car) But yay they will Fit!! yes the next hurdle is Ball joint/cross member problem. Ill find out more tomorrow. Hopefully it will be an easy bolt up a mixture of AU and El Parts and everyone will be happy :1syellow1 |

Trust me, you need to change the crossmember. I was going to do the same thing, there is no way in hell the AU2 spindle will bolt to the E-series lower arm and there's no way the AU2 lower arm will bolt to the E-series crossmember.

Off the top of my head, AU2 crossmember, lower arms, spindles, upper arms, brakes. Need to weld two studs in to fit the crossmember. The studs are there, but they aren't long enough. 90% sure you can use your existing shockers, though I have a tiny bit of a feeling they don't fit at the bottom and you'll need AU ones.
In theory it shouldn't be too hard, disreguarding suspension angles, which I'd imagine would be roughly the same. |

Assuming I could find EL GT parts, do they bolt straight in? What EL GT parts specifically would I need to convert to an EL GT brake system.
EL GT front disks are 329mm diam and calipers are twin pot. So if it is just a simple change over, and if parts are available that's what I'd like to do. |

the spindle is the main part i beleive, + the rotors and calipers.
don't know apart from that.

Disreguarding labour, it'd be cheaper to go AU2 set up, about the same price to go aftermarket.

I have Solved all our Problems and for less than $300
Yes there is an adaptor and brace that will fit to the e-series with out changeing the offset, crossmember and controll arm!! It takes about half a day to do both front and rear It is the cheapest and best mod around!!!! :sm_headba

Im going to Cry.......
The kit fitted!!! but the twin piston calipers were too big for the kit this guy sent me. so were looking at welding a bigger bracket so they will fit. and have to drill a hole in the ear tab so i can fit the ABS sensor. Not imposable just need to do some logical thinking... The rear bolt right up except the AUII being a different offset sat away from the car 10mm too far. so again not impossable but some logical thinking. Ill keep everyone posted because if i get it to work.......its cheap and you will benifit 100% (nothing dodgy)

just make sure its all legal and i think you'll have to get an engineers certificate for the upgrade...
imagine if the welds broke under heavy breaking, and you lost your caliper at 100 kms....... hope you're doing everything 150% above board mate... |
