They are pretty cheap, I know of someone who picked one up for under $300. They do have a tendancy to drone though and IMO on a stockish 5.0l 2.5" single is plenty big.

Depends on what you get, a couple of High flow mufflers in the stock 2.25" system can sound great and give you more power too and it'll save you $$$.

I actually have the three inch cat back exhaust on my XR8 and it does drone a bit. Not when your crusing only when accelerating. Mine was premade and just a bolt on unit and I seem to recall it was about $600. I think when I need to replace it I will go with the two and a half inch system.

I've actually made a few calls today and for a 2.5" or 3" single system most place are asking around $380 supply and fit for a redback system. Twin 2.5" system custom made with mandrel bends and high flow straight through glass pack redback mufflers is $780 :evil3:

i got quoted 650 for a 3" cat back today for a redback? Does that sound about right?
I got told by em that a 2 1/2 wont make a huge differece to the note as im after an awsum soundng note. I was told 3" was the way to go.

I think Liverpool exhaust wanted about $600 for a 3" cat back so that figure sounds like it's in the range.

Ive got twin 2 1/2 to the diff then goes to twin 3 inch after that all the way to the rear bar. Mine doesnt drone at all and sounds tuff. If you put the boot in everyone around turns to have a look. Im taking the 3 inch pipes of the rear going back to twin 2 1/2 all the way through just for the fact that 2, 3 inch pipes going under the diff you dont have to much room and mine lowered way to much and the pipes scrape.
