Default New WRX revealed.

It was a hot topic last time and now it is here. Can’t say I am impressed. Following Subarus norm now of side stepping. Has a lot of SUV like black plastics over wheel arches too. But that’s my opinion.

My brother in law has the previous model, drives like an oldskool turbo car, it feels laggy, interesting that they've got peak torque coming in earlier and holding on longer with this one.

I don't mind the looks.

Like I said I expected to be disappointed like I have been for as long as I can remember. At least Subaru is consistent in letting me down

I can always look at a good WRX (MY03) in my garage though. Would never buy one of these new ones.

What's with the plastic guards? It's not an XV.
I'll pass on that one tbh.
But I like AU falcons so I have no taste apprantly

Previous model looked way better Imo.

Easier to bolt on plastic flares for wider wheels?

Yeah but Subaru has been the new Volvo for a long time now, every time there's some flog going 30 under the speed limit around here its some old bloke in a new Subaru outback.

Also the car of choice for the L of the LGBTQIA+ crew

Their priorities for their cars must be different to ours as car enthusiasts

I feel attacked !!!

FYI I am 100% a straight cisgendered male!

While there seem to be a lot more of this demographic sliding towards the OB's, it's not everyone. I know what you said was in jest.

Back on topic though, I am pretty underwhelmed with the new WRX. Being a Subaru owner of a number of them for years, the hype over the new shape was a let down when I saw it. Felt like there was some Honda/KIA accents to the rear end to some extent.

I still reckon the 2015 WRX shape is a winner.

Bloody good isn't it.
If I didn't need a Ute and love the turbo barra like a brother.
There'd be a MK4 ST in manual in my garage.

This WRX though.

For a hatchback it looks great. (I hate hatchbacks)

Needs to be a coupe and would look far better

It's a nice colour admittedly.

Absolutely.

Just look at who drives them, more so than ever.

Plus they are useless in practicality outside a girl with kids.

If you like them though go for it.

So what are you implying?
I had an XR5 turbo and a Focus ST also.
And would buy one of either again in a heartbeat.
Grow up

If somebody thought they were impractical they wouldn't buy a hatchback would they? Most people don't need to fit 3 suitcases in the boot and carry 4 passengers though.. also never seen a girl driving an A45, ST, i30N, Megane RS etc. See them more driving around more shiny dual cabs these days which makes sense. Much more practical to drop kids off at school and put two bags of shopping in.

I don’t know where old mate gets his idea that hatchbacks are impractical. They are the absolute opposite. Way better than a sedan (which probably holds the WRX back a bit).
The fact you can get a hatchback with awesome performance should be celebrated. Makes trips to ikea a bit more fun
