Default Club trailer

hey guys im going to start making a club trailer for the club. i have all the tools and knowledge needed exept a welder and parts, if any one would like to make donations on an ea-el rear end shell (ef/el would be preffered) and other things i plan to make a barby and a drink cooler built into the boot of the trailer. if anyone would like to donate to this project it will be owned by the entire of e-series club and anyone can use it as they wish with conditions of course (that it comes back as it was sent out ) but lets not get that far ahead. ill write up a list of things needed and if anyone can help then it would be much appreciated thanks

100mm angle steel
lend of a welder later down the track
a nice set of wheels and tyres
a park bench (to replace the rear seat)

thats the list of stuff needed so far. if anyone can help it would be appreciated. i am also willing to make club trailers for other clubs on the condition that the club supplys all parts needed and throw in a little cash for usables eg, welding wire, beer, cutting discs etc etc. if i have any more stuff that is needed i will post again thanks everyone!

i can donate some snoflake alloys but you said nice wheels...hahaha

sounds like a good idea....if only you started this a while ago me and john had a perfectly good ED cobalt rear end that could have been used :P. monty has probably scrapped that thing by now.

Wasnt perfect when we got it home to Adelaide. I lost my temper with it at one stage and got stuck into it with a brake rotor

why not just make it from a wagon rear end? would have more room in it too. then you wouldnt have to make 2 of them ;)

Estupendo Idea efgiar!
Would definately make meet points on cruises more cozy, and enjoyable with a lil snack and a drink.

Wagon style would be more roomy...But a Sedan style would be Unheard of a really stand out!!!
So Do both :

Get the Site sponsors notified as they might be able to throw in a few bits n peices in return to get their name on the Trailer!

Love it!!! ~Matt

im getting john to photo shop a couple pics up and i dont think the wagon would look very good, but we could make an ef/el sedan and ea-ed wagon as the ea-el rear end of a wagon was all the same.

sure, getting rims like that and the rear skirt may be tough, but it looks mad
styling taken from the VL trailer that was on ebay a while ago.

Is this going to be used to carry all the other stuff, like tents? I dont see you fitting much in the boot of a eseries, Or will johns original eseries trailer still be used as well ?

i suggest we have a wagon one as well as a sedan one,

the wagon one cut off at window level , basically to make it look like a ute....

then have like a tarp or hard lid, this one can carry the tent / etc

the original idea can be the bbq trailer / seat / drinks one

this is john, but consider the whole point of price.
custom work like covers, etc on a wagon one would be money
a cut down sedan for carrying small stuff is a lot cheaper and likely easier to make.

also, there is no reason why you couldn't have some things ontop of it (similare to roof racks) to carry more.
when do we need to take massive amounts of luggage anyway, an eseries boot is plenty big enough, espectially when combined with the boot of the tow car too.
i'd propose taxi vinyl rear seat too :P

Umm, before starting this build.

Run spec's past me, I will let you know if it will be legal! After all, we do want to be able to take it to events!!

Also you shouldn't use 100mm angle for the draw bar. It can bend! You can use 50x70RHS. Smaller and stronger!

If you need any new trailer parts, let me know.

is there anywhere we can look in reguards to specs or similar that have to be conformed to when we're talking about trailers?
anything we should be aware of?

Hi guys..

I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm for what is a great idea..

But if you read through the VSB-1 bulletin (the link that BlackLS posted to DOTARS), you'll find the configuration you're considering, as shown in the picture, doesn't comply with current trailer regulations.

The load length forward of the axle must be longer than the load length behind the axle.

This forward length doesn't include the drawbar

Keep that in mind if you want it to be legal on the road.
