Removing LPG

Hi. I am looking for a V8 Fairlane or an LTD from NL/DL series onwards. Some I have seen have had LPG added (Dual Fuel). I am not interested in having LPG as the car will be a Weekend Cruiser/ Cars & Coffee Car, so Fuel Economy is not an issue for me to worry about and have owned V8s before and to me owning a V8 you cannot be worried about fuel economy. Lol
Can some Members please advise what is involved to remove the LPG Tank and associated fittings etc. along with an idea of the costs and the pitfalls to look out for with taking a Car off LPG. I am based in NSW. Does the Car need to be Inspected after the work is done?
Would appreciate your advice please.

It's time consuming and fiddly more than anything else but easier on dual fuel. All of those conversions will be after-market so the details might differ slightly but the basics are similar.
Empty tank (not as easy as it sounds by the way)
Vent lines (it's easier if you just run it out of gas)
Remove tank, lines, gas converter, inlet manifold gas components and the electrical bits associated with the gas system.
Or you can get an LPG certified workshop to do it for about $300.

Especially if it's an aftermarket conversion because they're going to have spliced into the OEM wiring in weird and wonderful places so need to be careful about repairing where they've cut into it lest you end up with a car that doesn't start anymore or plays funny buggers once the additional stuff has been cut out.

My 2cents worth if doing yourself is to make sure you run the tank empty before you uninstall it, seen a few people scratching heads as to how to dispose of a gas tank partially full.

Unsure of NSW rules but in QLD if LPG is on the Rego, you need a LPG Inspection to prove it was taken out.

When the engine conks out there will still be some LPG in the tank. Turn off taps and remove the system, it shouldnt leak, the problems are storing or disposing of a full or partially full cylinder...also its much heavier if full.

You will need a tube of sealant to fill up the many holes in the body where bolts and hoses went...you may want to patch and rustproof these properly, up to you.

If you are talking about an old car like that it is probably a mixer ring system and there wont be too much electronics compared to the SVI systems but be careful what you cut/remove is still a valid warning.

Once the tanks have been open to air and the guages removed they are just scrap steel, cut in half to avoid arguements at the dump...I would suggest waiting a while after removing guages if you do this.

Can I just add (I know in QLD) it's kinda illegal to remove the tank your self
