Default Focus ST Wagon...

Been trawling around with little success...but after winning the wife over to a new ST, she slyly read my copy of Wheels and found a pic of the wagon ST variant.
The catch is.. will Ford import these anytime soon?

Doesn't look like it at this stage. Be good if they did.

Going from our BF humungosaur wagon to the ST will be a real challenge so the wagon would be the most viable option. We have 3 little ones to consider, along with associated luggage.

Wagon looks great, but i don't think we'll ever get them :(

That said, the focus fits a hell of alot in it.

Unlike many, my wife loves to drive a manual and prefers to drive my Mk 1 Capri V8 to our Territory Turbo
Brave woman who at least knows how to drive a 3 pedal car.
Unsurprisingly, the ST wasnt a hard sell, it's just that the extra room would be very handy.

When we bought our focus I would have got a wagon for sure. I was Cheesed off when they said not in Australia. They look the goods too. My missus picked a manual aswell. Wish she wanted a sedan though.

Interesting how they sell them in New Zealand though.

Its because they dont have to comply with ADR's which can be restrictive in vehciles introduced to Aust. There they can also have vehciles that meet other standard, such as ECE...allowing a lot of European cars to be marketed there.

Surely the ST estate would meet OZ ADR's?

It should. Maybe Ford Australia don't want to bring it in because they're worried about Territory/Mondeo sales, and they want to sell ST hatchs?

Could be right there, guess it depends on what will happen now aussie manufacturing will be finished, they might decided to bring it in.

I think it's more a case of these small wagons not selling in much volume. I think only the Cruze wagon and a Hyundai wagon are basically the only choices. If the numbers were there to sell the base Focus as a wagon then i'm sure they would bring the ST version in too, but doesn't look likely.

It's a dirty word, but I think you can get a Golf wagon and a couple of french ones too. They're certainly not volume sellers (Golf maybe, but not the frenchies).

Partly right - the volumes would be marginal at best, though its a great car, having had one when back in NZ. There is a large cost required in getting to ADR standard, with a large part of the cost relating to the child seat anchorage points - the ADR standard is unique, and mandates specific requirements, which need to engineered into the vehicle, tested for strength etc. Euro cars just have the ISOFIX, which up until very recently was not permitted here. This Euro system is now permitted as an alternative, and we may start seeing more euro specs cars here.

In New Zealand they only sell Ambient and Trend wagon models, no ST nor Titanium (hatch only).
New Zealand Focus Range:

Side note interestingly they sell the all new Transit Custom van.
