I had to do mine two weeks ago, bought the XR6 mudflaps late in 2019. It happens when you go over small car park speed bumps, the car drops down the bump, the bump hits the flap.

I don't know what clips yours has though, but mine are the other way around, so the sharp pressed-out pins on the flat half of the clip digs into the plastic (so it can't move). If they are the same clips as mine, then you have them digging into the inside of the metal panel.

Does that then count as a failed project?
