Yeah our office is a bit unique as have Law, Surveying and IT specialised roles.......so can't just jump into the other seat as if all equally trained unlike many other types of businesses/trades.
It's challenging times (but understandably) - I was taking calls on Surveying matters today (I'm Law) and all i could say is "I'm sorry but i can't help you on this query, but happy to take a msg for you and an appropriate officer will respond asap" - cue abuse, it's not good enough, where are your staff etc etc etc
Agree completely on second point and no I don't take that as a shot at me at all. Certainly about not turning up also when others need a job asap.
Yeah having priority list is important for sure - in fact I have a meeting with my boss every Monday for that exact reason. Especially in these times it's even more important to know what needs to be done first etc!
