I have looked at the Mondeo a few times.
If you shop around they are very good value for money, 2nd hand. I test drove several diesels, and they were incredibly smooth.
They have the larger wet-clutch version off the power shift, so they don't have the same problems as the smaller dry-clutch version fitted to the Focus and others. I test drove several 2nd hand ones, with upto 60~70kk, and all passed testing for the shudders.

I found the MC interior to be a bit dated and bland, especially on the base model, but the MD is nicer.
