Couldn't agree more! I went to an engine run at that Aviation museum in Pt Adelaide about ten years ago. They had all sorts of engines from a flat 6 Cylinder Lycoming and an upside down Allison (I think) and a big radial (probably a Pratt and Whitney), but the star of the show was definitely the Merlin. This one did not have the super charger attached and they did not rev it but that crackle from the open exhaust during idle was unmistakable. You could see the exhaust valve seats glowing red during every cycle. I do not know if they still do it but it was definitely a great experience.
