Yes, that will happen. Also, the rear tyres will wear differently to the front, which can affect the steering and grip when you do rotate them. In fact, I'd recommend that you "unrotate" your tyres and leave them where they are until they wear out.

You will get better tyre life, better handling and less noise if you rotate your tyres every 10,000 - 15,000 kms.
