Ford Telstar question

i have a 1993 ford telstar tx5 ghia, It has the 2.5 v6 in it its 3 speed auto
and everytime like you come up to a red light to fast and you hit the brake, It stalls it will just cut out accessorie lights will come on you will have to put it in park or neutral and restart, what could be causing this problem the engine has good power does'nt lack transmission isnt sluggish or anything its all good but if you hit the brake to hard it will stall.
