If the disk/axle wasn't insulated from the system it should...although that is asking alot (protecting the rawest metal part on a car from salty air!)
As has been mentioned alot of 4x4ers and mines/other intustries (salt production for eg.) swear by them. Definately not snake oil that's for sure.
